    Why do we need dialogue?

Excerpt from the PDF I found on the web. Why do we need dialogue?

On Dialogue Vs Discussion. Very thoughtful.

‘Discussion’ comes from the same root as ‘percussion’ and ‘concussion.’ It really means to break things up. It emphasizes the idea of analysis, where there may be many points of view and where everybody is presenting a different one—analyzing and breaking up. That obviously has its value but is limited and will not get us very far beyond our various points of view.

Discussion is almost like a ping-pong game, where people are batting the ideas back and forth and the object of the game is to win or get points for yourself. The basic point is to win the game.

In a dialogue, nobody is trying to win. Everybody wins if anybody wins. There is a
different sort of spirit to it. In a dialogue there is no attempt to gain points or to make your
    particular view prevail.

A dialogue is something more of a common participation in which we are not playing a game against each other but with each other. In a dialogue everybody wins.

GOD’s Debris is available in pdf now

I was after this book some time back. Why I was so desperate ?
Reason 1. It’s by Scott Adams ( Creator of Dilbert )
Reason 2. it’s such a strange little piece of work and you’ll find it difficult to categorize as fiction or non-fiction, religion or science fiction or philosophy

Download your own pdf copy of my book, God’s Debris:

    Looking beyond google
    Looking beyond google by Satyanarayana.
Attended this talk in the hall next to pavilion of chinnaswamy stadium amidst noisy preparation for the onedayer tomorrow.

Search business in the kinds of google is just the tip of the iceberg.
Invisible web or deep web or un indexed web is 500 times larger than the current web.
Information result thrown up by google is ‘popular content’
There’s so much of institutional premium content is still outside the accessibility of larger public.”

Mobility : Where are we heading ?

My speech this evening at Toastmasters….

I have been staying next to airport for 4 years now.
and I see that there’s a four fold increase in the frequency of the flights in these four years.

If we go back in times few centuries before,we had invention of wheels which followed charitos and bullock carts.
Then came bicycle few hundred years ago and We found mobility.
Later sea was conquered with things floating on water and We saw huge boats and ships going across the continents.
On land, We graduated to something like trains which helped mass transportation of people and goods.
Then ford came out with cars for personal transportation.

Then at the start of previous century we saw the rise of planes in the air.

What we see today is a remarkable progress in the area of transportation.
Today we have birds like concorde which can transport us to a diffeernt continent in no time.

From the wheel to the supersonic jet, humanity has made leaps and bounds in transportation.

But if you look at the history of man kind, people never had this kind of mobility.
They were restricted to one geographical area. they neither had our postal system no fax no emails nor telephones.
They were completely isolated human beings.
They hardly moved from place to place.

But look Today.Take my own example.I am born in shimoga. Had my college at Bagalkot. For my job I moved to bangalore.
And my work demands me to go some other nation.

With modern day transportation, all barriers are down.
And Today two farthest points on this earth is reachable in just 24 hours which otherwise
would have taken a life time by bare foot.

Ok even if you cant go to the physical location you still have the means to reach out
to the place with advancements in communication technology.

You have this big network of computers. You have email.
You have instant messaging. Your international call rates are dropping every year.

so where are we heading ?!

Clearly we are going to be a more and more connected society.
We are going to be a more mobile society.

There will be no distance but only two different time zones.

My point is that With the rapid progress in two very important areas transportation and communication
there will be a high degree of connectedness and literally there will be demise of distance.

Slowly you will see that we belong lesser and lesser to one town,
    one state or
one nation but we belong more to this human kind and global village.
and I think this is what is being suggested
when I see non stop flights from Bangalore to Paris through my window.

    The Dilbert Blog !!

    The Dilbert Blog

It’s such a joyful morning. I discovered that scott adams, the creator of Dilbert is blogging now.

I must have read atleast 23 times by now. The Dilbert Principle. You still need an evidence of how big a fan of dilbert I am ?
One hell of a god-of-imagination and wordplay. I keep wondering how he can load surprises and anti logics in each and every line of his writing.

First time readers find him crazy. But if you read him time and again you can follow his thinking to discover so crazy this world is.
