Operation of a Transistor

I tried very hard in my second year of engineering days to understand the operation of a transistor. It just did not create any picture in my head.
When semester exam dates pressed on, I learnt that thing ‘mechanically’ and moved on.

Let those text books take most of the blame and part of it on my small brain. I wish there was one diagram like this. Just one shown here. That would have changed the course of my electronics studies….

I happened to learn about this yesterday! Six years after completion of electronics degree. What a shame !

It is splendid learning how Turning on and Turning off of the transistor works with this diagram. (In their ugly and obscure language, they used to call this as forward biasing and reverse biasing in our texts, remember ?)
