SrihariKota Flashback

November 28th, 2006 | by A T M |

We went to SriHariKota, around 2 years back from Birla Institute of Fundamental research,as part of sight seeing.
Life at SriHariKota is quite different from living in any other town of India. It’s a self contained town and houses only the big brainy staff members.
I still remember the person who showed us the master control facility with outshirt and Hawai chappal, only later to realise that he is a senior scientist.

It’s still fresh.
Touching the inner surface of the rocket fuel containers.
Stress Test site, where they put the rocket in horizontal position.
Library and excellent staying facility.
Early morning walk around the place.

SriHariKota is very special and strategic for Indian space advancement.

When we went there we’re just 30 days away from the launch of edusat satelite launch. I felt very proud for having got the opportunity to visit this unique town…which otherwise requires special permission because of security reasons.

My old friend from RC school in Shimoga, called me up this morning for his marriage invitation. Very glad to know that he works at Kalpakkam.
Wish I visit this site as well someday.
