Before the things gets erased from my head, let me have my take on
some of the sessions I picked to attend at the barcamp today.

We had this introduction of the presenters
in the morning. This was good because, everyone could decide,
based on the few seconds of pitch the speaker going to give, especially
when there are equally good sessions running parallely.

What are the few things I learnt today ?

Agile Project Management
- I had only heard of agile development and extreme programming.
But today I got see it running.

They have a completely new approach to sw project management.
I think it works.
They start with the prototype, get the feedback and start working on it.
They spend very little time on documenting things.
Their ‘dining table’ workspace and cardwalls are the best practises,
which everyone should steal away.

That’s a key takeaway for me today.

How could thoughtworks miss my radar.
Very glad I learnt so much today about them.

That’s the best part of barcamp. You get to learn newer things.

How Innovators Connect.
Rohit had a punch in his talk. He is the guy kawasaki of the bar camp.
Very practical man. He is so open to learn from his mistake and hungry
to get feedback.

Innovation in IT Services company.
I liked this presentation with no zero slides.
Kept very interactive. Listened to people. Gave lots of
examples.
Convinced that innovation can happen anywhere. Not just
at Product company.

aponline.com, mc21.com etc.

Lunch arrangement was nice.

First post lunch session was Kiruba.
I think it had the largest turn out today.
Proto.in
Kept very tight and he really sold proto.in
I dont miss his blog. So, met him at last.
Very energetic and enthusiastic.
He is the best thing to happen to chennai blogging circle.

Co-operation Vs competition
Very well done Sudheer.
He is a quasi science-quasi computing guy
Simulated and showed how to survive the era of competition.
It had all. Programming, Graphs, Darwin, Roger Penrose

Vivek Prahlad, I guess, of thoughtworks.
Google Web Tool Kit. He must be a real hack.
He had done a report on the gwt and its coolness.
Wish I were a developer like him.

Closing session was by Anand.
He is a doer. He coded then and there and showed us how to put up a wiki.
I was curious about wikis. This was a nice demo.

Dinner at Bhagini.
Joined few other folks…had discussion on random topics.

few more thoughts before i sleep….

- i should try my hands at coding
- should see how to make things agile at office
- should attend geek nights
- buy laptop
- participate in community. There’s more to give and take
- speak
- blog and spread the word
- this planet has more smarter guys than i thought. so be humble.
