Better visual for boring data
June 10th, 2007 | by A T M |I had to send out an email with a list of teams for our company team outing. This was the data.
I thought about it a bit. Sending a spread sheet attachment with names in six different columns would have been the most obvious way of representation.
See how much difference can it make when you arrange a simple long list of data into a much better visual with black and white boxes.
The represenation with chess boxes indicates that it’s a grouping done for a game and the intentions are light. So don’t read it as a serious official memo.
By not sending it as an attachment is not asking for few more clicks and launching of the application. People, generally show least amount of interest when the mail is a broadcast.
