    Tokyo Samba Carnival

Asakusa samba carnival happens last saturday of the August every year.  This is to mark the end of summer. I am not sure if the timing is right, as the sun was blazing down the participants and spectators making it a sweaty experience.  Nevertheless, a great spirit and a great ’show’ ;)

If you’re still in Tokyo, try reading Yokai Attack!; saw it on Sony Style TV Magazine on AXN, couple of days ago.

    Weekend at Okutamako Lake

Tokyo city is a concrete jungle.  But nature seekers are not let down. They should look west. There is more than enough to explore in the western Tama area of Tokyo. I have already been to Mt. Mitake and Mt. Hinode in that area.  There are plenty of courses for the hikers here.

I thought I will visit a museum today, but changed my mind last minute at the station and took to Okutamako lake.  Okutamako is an artificial lake created with the construction of the Ogouchi dam. Japan’s largest dam.  The road to Okutamako seems to be quite popular among cyclists and bikers. In the same visit you could also go to this unique floating bridge which is 5-6 kms from Ogouchi dam.

    Number Shi

Shi = Number 4 in Japanese.

    Number-4

This independence day, I complete four years in my current company. Not to reiterate this had been my longest companion of my previous three associations. More I worked and hung around, more I felt the loyalty pays off.

What is the average span of an IT guy in a company these days ? 3 years ?

PS : What is Number 4 called in your language.

    Notes from Changi Airport, Singapore

    Image0020Image0019

:  Third visit to Tokyo, but first one via Singapore.

: Impressive as it looks. Terminal  3. One of the best waiting lounges. You won’t mind delayed flights.

: Toast box served me for Peanut Toast, 2 Boiled eggs and Lemon Tea for 4.5 $. Peanut butter, though sticks inside your mouth.

: Pick ACCESS-SKL access points for free internet with krisnet/krisnet as login. An old Gentleman helped me.

: 1 Singapore Dollar = 33 Indian Rupees. Bangalore lags by 2 Hr 30 mins to  Singapore.

: Inflight entertainment system was dysfunctional,  Dinner wasn’t served on time. It was Singapore airlines from Bangalore to here.  But no grumbles. My bag was weighing 25 kgs and I wasn’t asked for excess baggage (20Kg limit)

: There were sneezers all along. I am not wearing a mask. H1N1 stay out.

: Why don’t we have universal electric plugs. Guy opposite is struggling to feed the power to his laptop. Now that am on Dell E5500 with 6 hrs of battery, it is such a breeze.
