You probably would have tasted or at least heard of all the everyday fruits available at your place and may be elsewhere too. This is one common ( or uncommon?) fruit I had never heard of.

Persimmon

Look alike of a bloated tomato.  Happened to taste this yesterday. Very very tasty. Looked it up on wiki to find out more. It seems to be native to very few places on this planet.
